Metro is growing again!

October 11, 2013 | Club News 0 Comments

We are thrilled to announce that the Metro family is growing again but this time we are heading south! Metro Fitness 51 will open in January 2014 on Carmel Road near the intersection of Highway 51 to serve the south Charlotte community. We are partnering with E.Z. Smith, IV who currently owns Two Pros Fitness to transition his business to a third Metro location.

Metro Fitness 51 will offer the CrossFit program that our members already know and love but also bring something new to the table - a variety of kickboxing, MMA, self-defense and strength and conditioning classes! This location will also provide youth programming and personal training.

You can expect the same high quality fitness experience that we are known for at Metro Fitness 51. From superior coaching to progressive training equipment to clean and upscale facilities, this location will look and feel Metro. Upfitting and construction will begin in November in anticipation for the January grand opening.

To best leverage the talents and skills of the Metro team and to ensure smooth operations at all three locations, we are reorganizing roles and responsibilities. Jen DeCurtins will transition to Marketing & Communications Manager to provide marketing, online and social media support to the organization while also expanding her role as a personal trainer and coach. Debbie Milgrim’s responsibilities will increase to oversee all three locations as Director of Operations. Matt Nunnally will be responsible for the CrossFit program for the entire organization but will keep Metro CrossFit as his home base and hire a head coach for the Metro 51 CrossFit program. And finally, E.Z. Smith will oversee day-to-day business at Metro 51 while also focusing on growth and awareness.

As the owner of Metro, Denise Abood will continue to provide thought leadership and creative direction as well as general oversight of all of our Metro locations. She will partner with the Metro team to ensure the brand remains strong, consistent and contagious.

Whew, did you get all that? What we’re trying to tell you is that Metro is committed to being Charlotte’s premier destination for fitness with an edge and we are ready to grow, evolve and change to make that happen. We feel lucky to be a part of such a healthy, active community!

Stay tuned for more news on Metro Fitness 51. We will share detailed information about pricing, schedules and class offerings as we get closer to January and we will keep you updated with photos throughout the construction process.

On behalf of the management team and staff of Metro Fitness Club, Metro CrossFit and the soon to be Metro Fitness 51, thank you for your continued support and patronage. We are so excited about this next chapter!
