What is your job outside of coaching?
I am an Electrical engineer working in the Power industry, mostly on large Nuclear plants in the Southeast.
What is your athletic background?
I played a variety of sports growing up and eventually pared them down to Soccer and Track & Field (emphasis on the field).
How did you fall in love with CrossFit?
Through Track in high school and Soccer in college. I was introduced to weight lifting and cross training so when I heard about crossfit I knew it was something I wanted to try. I was fascinated with the idea of trying to become good at EVERYTHING and I also loved having a coach again after college!
What is your favorite type of WOD? Least favorite?
My favorite WODs are anything that is short, fast, and heavy! I especially like couplets like Fran and Diane are two of my favorites. My least favorite workouts are the ones that involve a lot of running and longer times domains (like the Hero WODs)!
What is your favorite movement? Least favorite movement?
My favorite movement is the Power Clean and my least favorite movement wallballs.
What is the one food you could not live without?
HEAVY CREAM.
What is your favorite kind of music to workout to?
I never hear the music once I start working out. It’s like a music black hole in my head!
What would be one word to describe you?
Vulcan (they’re really strong and athletic, but logical thinkers!)
What is something people may be surprised to know about you?
Probably already revealed it. I’m a huge sci-fi nerd!
How would you describe your coaching style?
I am at my best when I can watch someone move and make in-the-moment corrections and while I’m not a great cheerleader, I know how to talk tough when someone needs an extra push.
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit?
Reading, cooking, gaming, and watching anything sci-fi related on tv are my favorite things to do in my down time.
