Background
From a young age, Meg has always been an active individual. From swimming competitively throughout middle and high school, running her first 1/2 marathon in her mid twenties, to then experiencing burnout and having to restart her journey at 29 – Meg has been on both sides of the health spectrum. At 30, she realized that she wanted to help others learn the importance of building strength and valuing their body for more than just aesthetics alone, but also for how strong and resilient you can be, no matter the age. Meg has helped numerous clients regardless of their goals – from clients looking to gain muscle mass, lose weight, from runners who want to translate their training to a race, and even older individuals who just want to keep up with their grandkids.
Her philosophy is to treat your body like you treat your retirement plan: invest in it, protect it, and the benefits are endless!

Natural human actions can be categorized into a few general movements: Squat, Hinge, Lunge, Push, Pull, and Carry. Our environment and habits dictate whether we enhance or restrict these qualities. My position is to educate, demonstrate, and teach individuals how to perform each movement in a progressive and systematic process that’s conducive with their training goals. Each client I have the opportunity to train will not only develop improved overall functional strength, but will also improve mobility, flexibility, and health.

Background
I grew up in an “active” family and played organized sports in both high school, and college. It was a “no-brainer” for me to pursue Biology initially and then Exercise Science at Appalachian State. After multiple injuries, knee surgeries and time spent in training rooms and rehabilitation facilities I discovered my broad range of interest in the wellness field and the desire to work with individuals on all levels. My special interests are: (1) working with individuals (of all ages) that are eager to make a lifestyle change to become more active or enhance quality (2) continuing a rehab based program with someone who needs assistance with improving range of motion, coordination, balance or overall strength/endurance training.
Focus
I enjoy coaching and educating on how to find their “perfect balance” between strength/endurance training, mental wellness, and provide encouragement/tips on surround yourself with things you love and the balancing act of LIFE, as it is always changing. I share with each client my program structure, educate on the “why” and “purpose” of each exercise, demonstrate and instruct how to properly execute a movement, and encourage each individual to do it on their own. The more tools you have, the more confident you will be in times of stress! When I am not working, I bleed the App State “black and gold”. I come from a family of Mountaineers, married into a family of Mountaineers, and served 9 years on the App State Charlotte Alumni Board, as social chair and President. I currently serve as Membership Director for a neighborhood swim club, and thoroughly enjoy volunteering and giving back to my community; it is part of me seeking the “perfect balance” between physical and mental fitness/wellbeing.
